Before we officially ring in 2014, I feel the need to wrap up the year just gone by. WordPress always sends its bloggers a nice little annual report with their statistics from the past twelve months. I could share the whole thing with you dear readers, but my data tells me that you’re busy people who have better things to do with your time than analyze my blog demographics.
So here’s my rundown, sort of short and sweet.
The numbers – 16,000 views, 67 new posts, people from 116 countries visited, my busiest day tallied 201 views.
Most people who took a look at my blog were from the US followed VERY closely by the UK. No offense to my fellow Americans, but my goal for next year is to flip that statistic.
Most popular post for four years running and with the most views ever? No surprise – Is “bloody” really a swear word?
As for posts I actually wrote this year, here are the top 10 most viewed. You’ll note that some of my newer features such as “Things That Make Me Sad”, “Lessons I Learned from Watching…” and “British People I Still Don’t Know” are included on this very elite list. Please feel free to click on any posts you’d like to revisit or may have missed the first time ’round.
I felt this was a good year for British television (a historic one in the case of a certain Doctor we all know) and I’m looking forward to an even better 2014. Believe me, I won’t hold back if I don’t like what I see.
But my main goal for the next 365 days is to watch even more telly in order to glean as much as I can about that elusive island across the sea. (Well, elusive to me anyhow…unless you know someone who’s looking for an American perspective on British TV and pop culture and needs them to come to Britain to pontificate at length and for a lot of money, if possible.)
Thanks to everyone for checking in and sharing your thoughts! And my very special appreciation goes out to my fellow bloggers who support me with their comments and their commiserations – you know who you are.
Happy New Year and hope to see you all back here in 2014! I’ll endeavor to make it worth your while;)
